My Experience in Petit Jean

Posted by

This past June, I had the pleasure of going to a Swap Meet on top of Petit Jean Mountain, hosted by The Museum of Automobiles.  This was my first trip out in the RV, alone. My ignorance about some RV knowledge made it possible for nearly everything that could go wrong, to go wrong. I learned a lot of lessons about RVing, in general while I was there. I dry camped and boon-docked for a week, because I wasn’t aware that the RV had to be on level ground for the generator to function, properly. I learned a much greater respect for the people who RV full time. I had no cell phone service. I sliced my foot open in an act of pure clumsiness that I can’t even fully explain, myself. If it weren’t for the people at Petit Jean, my experience could have been completely miserable.

Ms. Gina Hoelzeman & her husband Alan were so very helpful to me. She went out of her way to help me doctor my foot and find me a taxi to the hospital, among many other things. Mr. Bill Kautz and his wife Rosemary were extremely helpful in trying to get my generator to run for longer than five minutes. Mr. Bill also helped me when the automatic step got stuck open. Mr. Carroll Satterwhite and his wife, were just two of the sweetest and most down to earth people I met while in Petit Jean.I met a lot of good people while I was there, that left great impressions.

The mountains of Arkansas are absolutely breathtaking. I drove a Trikaroo Boomer Switch about a mile away, to Petit Jean’s gravesite. The view from the lookout is unforgettable. I rode a Trikaroo Flyer X 2 miles down the road to the campgrounds to shower & enjoy the scenery in the State Park, daily. It’s so peaceful and pretty. All of these things made my trip enjoyable, but it was the people of Petit Jean who made it the most memorable. Thank you all for your hospitality and help!
